Spinning, Spinning, round and round...

See that cute little spinning wheel in the photo?  It's the Schacht Ladybug, and it's a cute as a bug!  It's a great beginner wheel, and made in the USA!

Also, if you are a spinner, drop spindles and travel niddy-noddies are in!  As well as roving, roving, and more roving.  Roving's also useful for needlefelting, crazy quilts and all sorts of fun stuff.

Don't forget - Beginning Spinning, the Spindle will be held on May 5th from 10:30am-12:30pm.  The class is $30 and includes the use of a spindle during the class, roving to spin and hand-outs.  Class size is limited!  Space is running out!  Email dynt10@gmail.com or call the shop at 724-473-0983 to register.  While the wheel can be mesmerizing, the spindle is handy, very portable, and still widely used all over the planet - mostly because it works!  Also, as with any class as DYNT, additional supplies purchased during the class are eligible for a 10% discount.  So should you fall in love with your new skill, you can purchase a spindle and more roving at a discount!  (Spindles $19; roving varies)

This just in...

Guess what arrived today!  Sure it's more wool...but I just love the stuff!  This box was full of Brown Sheep's Nature Spun Worsted Yarn.  Nature Spun is 100% wool, mothproofed and made in Nebraska!    Each ball is 3.5oz/100gram/245 yards/224m.  It would make great soakers.  It would also be great for all your fulling (felting by making the item larger and tossing it in a warm water wash and dry) projects - like a great bag!  I see alot of potential here.

Don't worry, if wool isn't your thing, more Flora-fil cotton yarn is on the way - and in solids!  Flora-Fil is also and American Made product and if you're making baby blankets right now, Flora-fil is great for that!  So is Classic Ellite's Sprout and Seedling.  Both are part of the CEY Verde collection, which means Sprout and Seedling are made from organic cotton!  Any would make a blanket that even Linus would deem worthy of totting around all day.

Men's knitting Group starts tonight.

No comments:
Tonight is men's night!  If you are male or have a guy in your life that knits or crochets send them this way!  DYNT is the place to be from 5-8pm on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.

I know a few fiber-active males myself and thought it might be nice to have a place and time for them to get together and discuss their projects with other guys.  Sure they probably know plenty of women to discuss yarn with, but wouldn't it be cool to meet other guys who share their love of all things fiber related?

It's a very informal group, just show up and start working!  There is no homework.  No assignments.  Except for being male, no requirements.  Knit, crochets, spin, weave... Wunderbar will be open too, so stop in there first and pick up your hot beverage of choice.

Also, just a reminder, Spinning classes start this Saturday.  If you've wanted to learn how to use a drop spindle, this is the place to start!  It's $30 and registration is required.  Give a call to register.

Spinners' Corner

Hey Spinners!  Needle Felters!  Fiber Junkies!

Did you know that DYNT carries fibers for spinning or felting?  The fibers include, alpaca, merino, super washed merino, Blue Faced Leicester, domestic wool, and some silk & bamboo blends.  DYNT also has drop spindles, hand carders, felting needles, blank felt purse forms and felt.

Also for the spinners, DYNT just got in some travel Niddy Noddies!  American Made, makes 7 skein sizes, pompoms and fringe and includes the travel bag and directions - all for $35!  I'm excited about these, any tool that works well at making a task easier, is affordable, and American Made is worth getting excited about.

If you aren't yet a spinner - now's your chance!  Spinning classes start next Saturday, April 14th from 10:30am - 12:30pm!  Class size is limited, as this is a very hands-on learning process.  The class is $30 (includes a $5 use fee for the spindle)  The class fee includes the roving (the stuff you spin into yarn) and a handout.  You get to keep any yarn you spin during the class.  There is a 10% discount for registered students who decided to purchase additional spinning supplies during the class.
